MLK Oration Scholarship

The Oration Scholarship Contest is open to 2026 high school graduates who will be enrolled in college for the Fall 2026 term. The scholarship application will be completed in two rounds:

Round 1: All applicants will submit a 3-5 minute speech reflecting the theme “Our Village” and connect to the ideals and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Applications are due on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

**5 Finalists will be selected and will engage in 1-2 preparation sessions for Round 2.**

Round 2: Finalists will perform their speech in a live oration contest at the 2026 MLK Scholarship Gala, on January 16, 2026.

I also consent that my picture may be taken and used for any purpose deemed necessary to promote the 2026 Dr. MLK scholarship program.l hereby understand that if chosen as a scholarship winner, according to Pioneering Excellence scholarship guidelines, I must provide evidence of graduation with a valid Frisco ISD High School Diploma and proof of enrollment/acceptance at an accredited, post-secondary institution before my scholarship funds can be awarded. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the accredited college/university validated by acceptance documentation provided by the students.

Video Submission

Please upload a video that is 3–5 minutes long responding to the following prompt: Dr. King taught that we are all tied together in a single garment of destiny. How does "Our Village" inspire you to serve, lead, or uplift others?


Along with responding to the required prompt, your submission MUST include a brief explanation on why winning this specific contest matters to you.


The video should not contain any special effects and must be recorded in one continuous take, without any editing.
